Hello! I have been Villa, a tour guide for a few years ... I came to this job almost by chance, but once I started guiding groups I realized that I had been preparing for this all my life ... I love it! I have a degree in Fine Arts and I have higher studies in History, Philosophy and Architecture, however, long hours in the bar have made me a different guide; not everything appears in the books, although it is true that they help a lot.
Are you only going to spend one day in Madrid and want to get the best impression? Or maybe you want to know the terrain to continue the rest of your trip knowing where you are at all times ... This is your ideal visit!
In one morning and with the advantage of being able to take advantage of the rest of your day , we will visit the two most historic sides of the capital of Spain in a single tour.
The Madrid of Austrias and Bourbons will be the common thread of the route, but without ceasing to look at the current essence of one of the most important capitals of Europe: culture, art, design, fashion ...
We start from Opera , a connection point for all the ins and outs of Madrid de los Austrias… From there we will walk to the Royal Palace , the origins of the Villa and the Almudena Cathedral .
From the brightest corners to the darkest streets of La Villa y Corte: The Madrid of letters , old traditions, Bohemian Lights… San Miguel Market and Plaza De la Villa. A "coffee with milk" in the Plaza Mayor to face a change of era and from Callao , we will look into the twentieth century through Gran Vía .
After a well-deserved rest with churros, chocolate, sugarcane or a good squid sandwich , we return to the most modern Madrid, starting from Km 0 of the nation ( Puerta del Sol) to the Congress of Deputies ; a derby between Cibeles and Neptune ; the Bank of Spain ; the Madrid Stock Exchange ; the best art gallery on the planet ( El Prado ); the Royal Academy of the Language ; a park that was a palace ( Retiro ) and the Puerta de Alcalá , the place from where history enters this town and we put an end (and) to the visit.
In short, the main brushstrokes to get to know Madrid through its history and its protagonists… Anecdotes, curiosities and hundreds of tips that will complete your experience in just over five fun hours. And we know that it is impossible to get to know Madrid in a single day, but on this visit we get you to take the essentials with you.
