Balat and Fener, a walking tour in Spanish through Istanbul's bohemian neighborhood.
Tour description
Discovering Balat on a walking tour exclusively in Spanish takes us on a journey to discover much more than Istanbul's most bohemian corner. Fener-Balat is the place where history transports us back to the late 15th century, when two historic events taking place at both ends of the Mediterranean Sea gave rise to the city's most colorful and vibrant neighborhood.
We'll visit spectacular Orthodox Christian temples such as St. Stephen's Church and St. George's Orthodox Cathedral. We'll have the opportunity to take photos next to the impressive Fener Orthodox College and the Instagrammable Colored Houses. You'll be able to visit the garden of the former Dimitri Cantemir Palace, now a café, and the famous Colored Stairs. We'll see the Ahrida Synagogue and delight in the cafes, vintage shops, and antique dealers that have breathed new life into its historic streets.
A melting pot of peoples and religions, the steep streets of Balat hold secrets and stories that we invite you to discover with us.
