Hello! Welcome to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria😀🌞 I am Dalila, your official tourist guide since 2001, which is very important to tell you our story of knowledge, veracity and experience.
Las Palmas de GC is a city with two historic quarters, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries , with beautiful colonial and modernist corners, full of anecdotes about great figures of culture and the street. Come with me to meet him!
Vegueta , declared a National Historic-Artistic Site in 1973 , was the first Castilian settlement in the Atlantic, where the Crown of Castile began the conquest of the Canary Islands in the 15th century , full of stories and beautiful colonial buildings, the result of the efforts of the Catholic Monarchs for having a large city strategically located outside the continental territory
We leave the Plaza de San Antonio Abad , where it all began in 1478, the scene of great exploits, deceit and betrayal. Walking, we will delight ourselves with emblematic and charming places. Among other things we will be able to see the facades of the Columbus Museum, I will tell you about his travels, the first maps and the connection between the Canary Islands and the American continent.
Between stories of colonizers, conquerors, pirates and beautiful and charming squares , we arrive at the Plaza Mayor de Santa Ana with its annexed buildings, which provides a fundamental framework to learn how the city was configured on a political and social level at the end of the 15th century. .
Through the old Stone Bridge we will arrive at the Triana neighborhood, from the 16th century, where we can enjoy the bustle of the main commercial street of the city, linked to commerce since its inception. We stroll through the elegant squares and discover parts of the life of illustrious characters such as D. Benito Pérez Galdós and the theater that bears his name.
We finish the walk in the Vegueta Market , the oldest in the Canary Islands , an ideal place to end the visit with some wines and typical tapas mixed among the people of the country. I can advise you on food, restaurants, shopping, events, leisure and everything you need to enjoy your stay in our city.
Come with me to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a city that will leave you with a good taste in your mouth between stories, architecture, anecdotes and the sensation of a Canarian guide!!
