Tour description

We will take a bus to a town 4km (the value of this is Q6.00 round trip) from the city to go hiking on the slopes of the Agua volcano having exceptional views, connecting with nature, while we learn the history of the towns, what happened to the indigenous people who inhabited the towns surrounding the city of Antigua.

It is a unique experience in which I will share stories that allow us to understand the harmony with nature that we possess and how orally my ancestors shared stories from my great-great-grandparents to my generation and that today I want to relive.

The tour lasts around three hours in which by activating the body we can learn and share the mysticism of the cosmology and worldview of our peoples.

- Bring comfortable hiking shoes, clean water and a snack to enjoy yourself in the best way.

I requested an early morning hike and I was robbed and shot in the leg. I was told I needed a guide for this area so I thought it would be okay with this guide but the entire thing was set up by the guide who was messaging the robbers of our arrival. Please whatever you do don't trust this guide!!!!

This is a Spanish tour but I begged Jose to allow me to join his tour even if my Spanish is limited. It turned out that I was the only walker and he didn't cancel the tour. I really appreciate him. He tried to speak slowly so that I could understand him to some extent. The tour went to Obisco just outside Antigua which is on the lower hill of Agua Volcan, 15 minute chicken bus ride (Q3 per ride, a fare collector gave me changes and you can pay with a small bill (Q5,10,20). It was an easy 2 hour hiking and I was able to see smokes from Fuego Volcan. The view from the hills were amazing. The main point is to know the culture of Mayan tribe, his tribe and myths, legends and interesting stories that his grand parents passed on to him. It is not about Antigua nor Spanish colonial Era but for Mayan culture. He has another full time job He had a moment of self-identification as a Mayan and this is his life project as a Mayan descendant. This was a very unique experience for me. If you understand Spanish and are interested in authentic Mayan culture, I strongly recommend it.
