The secrets of the defense of Madrid

For almost three years the capital of Spain was a direct witness to the war. Without a doubt, it was one of the most tragic moments in the recent history of Madrid and the people of Madrid.

Walking through its streets we will recount the events that occurred in those dark days and we will give an account of the day to day of its inhabitants. We will explain how both their resistance and dissent were: a city where acts of cruelty and extraordinary compassion, daily fear and admirable courage were mixed.

A Madrid that deserves to be remembered and visited.

NOTE. It is important that each attendee brings headphones since the visit will be carried out with a radio guide.

I am Diego Barrios Canora, creator of a small tourism company (Barrios de Madrid). My love for the city I live in, the country where I was born, and the history, art and culture of both, has been the engine that drove the development of this project. I hope you will join me on this vertiginous and encouraging journey through the history of Madrid, its streets, its citizens, its traditions... I am an official tourist guide and a friend of the Royal Economic Society of Matritense Friends of the Country (RSEMAP). Regarding my studies, I am a senior technician in Tourist Information and Marketing, graduated in Law and I have a master's degree in Planning and Management of Tourist Destinations. In addition, I took the PREDIF course on Accessible Tourism for All People.

Free tours don't have a fixed price. At the end, each person contributes to the guide the amount they consider fair based on their satisfaction. As a guideline, Guruwalk recommends between €15 and $50 per participant.
