Art Tour: Plaza San Martín + Exposition Park + MALI (Lima Art Museum)
Tour description
Visit Lima's historic center, a World Heritage Site, and discover its history and art with an expert. This time, we suggest a different Lima, one that's very original and less visited, yet equally impressive.
We started knowing from the outside One of the best museums in Lima: the Lima Art Museum (MALI) is located in a building dating back to 1872. The manufacture of its columns, made of iron and imported from Europe, is attributed to the Eiffel House.
We'll continue through the Exposition Park. It's a large natural area that also boasts beautiful historical monuments such as the Chinese fountain, the Byzantine palace, the Gothic pavilion, and the Exposition Palace, now known as Mali.
We'll then stroll through Neptuno Park , where we'll see the beautiful facade of the Museum of Italian Art. We'll continue through a modern shopping center that once housed Lima's old prison, filled with gruesome historical artifacts.
We'll visit the beautiful Plaza Francia and continue along Camaná Street to discover Lima's classic bookstores offering secondhand books. Then we'll walk down old Quilca Street where we'll see one of Lima's oldest bars.
And finally, we will end up in Plaza San Martín , the second most important in Lima, full of stories and great monuments that I will tell you about.
