Great to meet you, I'm Binh, and my English name is Ben. My brother Peter, and I are founders of a Local Guide Team called Saigon Taste Tours with our co-hosts Daniel, Emmei, Hani, and more in Ho Chi Minh City. We first discovered Saigon while studying at University after leaving our hometown in rural Vietnam. We immediately became fascinated by the city's unique blend of culture, history, and delicious cuisine. Our education focused on tourism, and I have extensive experience working as a local English-speaking tour guide for various companies. But, We finally decided it was time to bring our custom-tailored experiences to my guests, so we're starting this local experience. Why choose us? 1. Specialized: Knowledge, passion, and personal perspective 2. An experience like a local: Something guests can't find anywhere else 3. Connect: Warmly welcome guests, turning strangers into friends Thank you for stopping by, and we look forward to connecting with you more!

Tour description

If Saigon is known for one thing, it's the fantastic food—and maybe its swarms of buzzing motorbikes if you are afraid of being behind scooters in this bustling city—this evening food walking tour with me when most of the street vendors open for business. You will taste cuisine from North, Central, and South Vietnam.

Get picked up at the meeting point, Huyen Sy Church, and then we leave the tourist area behind and walk to the local area. Start your food adventure in the non-tourist district.
I designed the tour with many dishes with small bites. You can order as much as you want, and if you feel full, you can skip some food stops on the tour. However, you can watch how vendors make the dishes and take pictures. Most of the food stops, and we will share meals to eat together.

Here is the highlight of what you will do with me:
Thirteen tastings of authentic, delicious street food in the local area.

#1. Bo La Lot ( cost 1,5$ USD)

#2. Banh Xeo  ( cost 1$ USD)

#3. Banh Khot  (  cost 0,5$ USD)

#4. Grab a fresh beer and walk like
a gangster  ( cost 0,5$ USD)

#5. Banh Trang Nuong ( cost 1$ USD)

#6. Sugar Cane Juice  ( cost 0,5$ USD)

#7. Food challenge and seafood:  Scallops,
Clams, Snails, and Baluts. ( if you like to try 2$)

I was so excited to join this ‘unique’ tour and try some under the radar, real street food places of Saigon, however, on visiting the first stop it quickly became apparent that this was ‘the very well beaten track’ of restaurants (not street stalls!) where everyone else at every other table in the place was also on a guided tour - it all felt very disingenuous so I’d be reluctant to book if I’d known.

We had a great time on this tour - our guide Daniel was very knowledgable and friendly and helped us have a great time. We ate A LOT, tried some great Viet foods, and got to see some of the fantastic less touristy areas where the locals eat. We highly recommend to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh.

Daniël is a good guide, speaks very good English and is a nice guy with lots of knowledge about the food. He knows his way around and brought us to all kinds of streetfood places with lovely food. And there is a nice challenge during the tour.
