Tour description
This tour focuses on the history and growth of New York City and its efforts of sustainability throughout its development to present day! This 2 and a half hour tour will give you a quick dip into the history of early New York in two distinct neighborhoods; Greenwich Village and Wall Street.
We will focus on two distinct areas and will take one subway ride!
We will begin in the Wall Street area and look and Dutch and English Colonial times, the growth of the New York Stock Exchange , landfill strategy and LEED green buildings!
Our second stop will include the history of Greenwich Village from Dutch times, tenement houses and immigration, urban flight and artist gentrification. We will visit famous McDougall Street and Washington Square Park. We will discuss city expansion, strategies for car traffic and pollution.
