Hello! I'm Jason. I'm a tour guide originally from Canada, who has been in Cambodia for over five years. Many people come to Kampot and visit Bokor Mountain, Pepper Farms or Kep, but miss the amazing history and culture that the city of Kampot has to offer. With the help of my Cambodian friend Sa, our tours offer a chance for both a local and western perspective on this fascinating country, amazing city and it's people.

Tour description

A perfect activity for your first day in Kampot!

Many people come to Kampot and spend their time out of the city, going to Bokor Mountain, Kep, or the Pepper Farms.

What they miss is the amazing history and culture that's right in the city.

On our 90 minute walking tour, you'll learn about the town’s days as a haven for pirates, the French colonial period, and the transformations shaping it today.

We will point out what others miss, whether it’s the faded marks left by war, the local spirits and shrines tucked into quiet corners, or the fascinating architecture and history of local buildings.

After the tour, you’ll be invited to join the guide for a drink where he’ll continue to share his passion for local history and travel tips about what to see and do around Kampot and Cambodia .

Our walking tour is free.

We meet at The Monkey Republic Hostel reception at 5pm, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end the amount they consider appropriate (amounts usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
