Camden Town - Music, Markets & Mayhem
Tour description
Get ready to dive headfirst into one of London’s most electrifying neighbourhoods on our tour of Camden Town!
We’ll trace the footsteps of literary legend George Orwell, who found himself “down and out” here, and meet the real Peaky Blinders who ruled Camden’s streets before it was fashionable. Discover how the area became the beating heart of London’s counterculture in the 60s, pulsating with punk, ska, Britpop, and rave. Feel the spirit of Amy Winehouse, whose voice still echoes through the alleyways, and unpack the stories behind legendary venues like The Roundhouse, which have hosted everyone from The Doors to David Bowie.
Camden wasn't always the cultural icon it is today. Once a sleepy village on the outskirts of London, it transformed into a gritty industrial hotspot with the arrival of the Regent’s Canal and sprawling markets which attract up to 250,000 people per week and offer some of the most exciting shopping options in North London.
You’ll also encounter eye-popping street art, hear about Camden’s anarchic past, and learn how this once-industrial quarter became a global hub of creativity, rebellion, and reinvention.
Weather permitting, we finish by ascending to Primrose Hill for some of the finest views in London!
Please note, groups larger than 6 and any educational groups will need to get in touch to arrange a private tour, as they will not be able to join the public tour.
