"Golden Domes and Alleys of History" AL MOEZ STREET AND KHAN EL KHALILY
Tour description
Cairo is one of the most vibrant cities in the East with its historic streets. I'm going to take you to one of these famous streets that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, along with the rest of Islamic Cairo.
Al Moez Street is the highest concentration of Islamic antiquities in Cairo with more than 22 Madrasas "schools", mosques, traditional baths, known as hammams, we start from BAB AL FUTUH one of the famous gates of the wall that surrounded the capital during the historical times of Islamic Cairo; from there we begin our special walk that with each step we see we enjoy unique buildings in Cairo and hear something different about a monument or an Egyptian tradition.
For 2 and a half hours we walked along the entire street with its narrow streets until we reached the most famous market in all of Egypt, the Khan el Khalily market, with 600 years of history (founded in 1384 BC) and hundreds of shops. There we finished the walk.
