Tour description

Dublin 2025: A bustling, modern city. Silver trams fight for space with Deliveroo drivers, international students on tours, and locals doing their shopping. The greatest danger is being overcharged for a pint of Guinness.

The Dublin of 1916 - 1923 was a very different beast.

It was a Dublin of battles and shootouts. Raids and last-minute escapes. Spies and informers. Rebels and assassins. A city of heroes, villains, and enough trench coats and fedoras to outfit the cast of a Hollywood noir. It was a city which defied an empire.

If the latter Dublin intrigues you, then this tour is for you!

On this tour, you will trace the path of the Irish revolutionary period through Dublin's streets. From the doomed valour of the 1916 Rising, to the espionage and intrigues of the War of Independence, and to the tragedy of the Civil War.

This tour will stop outside the following:

  • General Post Office
  • Custom House
  • Dublin Castle / City Hall
  • The Four Courts

As well as these sites, there will also be several stops at locations where less well-known events of the revolutionary period took place. These include No. 94 Talbot Street, where IRA leader Séan Treacy met his end. Also No. 3 Crow Street, where the IRA's Intelligence Department had its headquarters.

Important note: This tour is approx. 2 hours long. We will begin outside the GPO and finish at the Four Courts.

Join us on the Revolutionary Trail!
