Tour description

2-hour tour of Sligo town starting at Sligo Abbey, the town’s oldest building, dating back to 1252.

This walking tour takes you on a journey through Sligo’s people, landmarks, restaurants, bars, galleries, and all the charm the town has to offer — from a truly local perspective.

Nestled in the northwest of Ireland, Sligo straddles the Garavogue River where it meets Sligo Bay. The town is renowned for its literary heritage and rugged countryside. Explore the ruined medieval Sligo Abbey with its carved tombs and 15th-century altar, visit the Sligo County Museum showcasing memorabilia of poet W.B. Yeats, and admire modern Irish art — including Jack B. Yeats paintings — at The Model contemporary arts centre.

This tour will be delivered in the English language unless specified when booking.
