Tour description
Looking to explore Lugo in just a few hours and in a fun way? This free walking tour of Lugo's historic center is ideal for discovering the city's highlights: from its Roman walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to its most emblematic squares, churches, and streets steeped in history. All this is accompanied by an official local guide.
Itinerary
We'll begin our tour in Lugo's Plaza Mayor, next to the City Hall. From there, we'll explore the historic center to learn about the city's origins, dating back to Celtic and Roman times. We'll walk along sections of the Roman Wall and climb its walkway to enjoy the panoramic views.
During the walk, we will see emblematic places such as San Domingo Square, Ferrol Square, and Soidade Square, as well as the main gates of the city wall: San Pedro and A Nova. We will also see the exteriors of churches such as San Pedro and San Froilán, the patron saint of Lugo.
The tour ends next to the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Mithraeum Museum, where we'll explain its history from the outside. If you wish, you can visit it on your own after the tour.
