I took the 3-hour Apartheid tour today, and I genuinely lost track of time. Michael’s storytelling is so intense and engaging that the hours simply fly by. This is exactly what I value when traveling abroad: an honest, unfiltered account—less politically correct, more truthful, meaningful, and heartfelt—of the country I’m visiting. Michael narrates a harsh chapter of history with such passion and commitment that you don’t even realize three hours have passed since he began. Absolutely recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Michael is very knowledgeable and passionate! The tour lasted 3 hours instead of 2 hours as he had so much to tell us. Enjoyed the experience and education. Will definitely see the history of South Africa with different eyes.

Probably the best walking tour I've done! Micheal is so knowledgeable, he answered all of my questions with great care and made sure I felt looked after and safe (I'm a solo female traveller) . I had an absolutely brilliant day with him and I'd highly recommend him to anyone who's interested in the real history of Cape Town and South Africa.

Sehr informative tour über die Geschichte Südafrikas. Sie wurde uns sehr anschaulich und ausführlich näher gebracht. Leider konnten wir nicht bis zum Ende bleiben, da die Tour länger als angegeben dauerte.

A tour with him helps you understand perfectly the historical and cultural past of this town and country, and all the struggles its people has gone through and it's going through now. BEST TOUR IN CAPE TOWN!! me & my partner are still so blown away by this experience. it is one thing to listen history facts from somebody who has studied it from books BUT IT IS ANOTHER THING TO HEAR IT FROM SOMEBODY WHO HAS LIVED IT!!! After a little bumpy start, we had a really good, informative and intense tour with Michael. He was patient and very open to answer all questions we had, even when we brushed controversial topics or difficult ones of current politics. Michael seems like a very reflective person and has experienced and actively fought for ending the Apartheid himself, which allowed us to switch into his perspective for a while. The best free walking tour I’ve ever done, hands down. Michael was the perfect tour guide for this tour. He shared his lived experience. He provided historical context and related it well to the stops on the tour. But the personal connection to what he was sharing is what made this tour so special and impactful. We have done several ‘free’ walking tours around the world and this was 100% the best one so far. Michael’s true lived-in experience of the recent and ongoing struggles of apartheid made for a very engaging tour and gave a real-life perspective of life in cape town today that would be difficult to find elsewhere. It gave us new information that definitely challenged our preconceptions and views on not only South Africa but also how the country sits in today’s modern politics.
