Free walking tours in Dhaka

I had a great time exploring Dhaka with Gorge. I was the only one on the tour, so I really appreciated that he still went ahead with it and even picked me up directly from my hotel instead of having me meet at the starting point. One thing to note is that this is not a purely walking tour because the distances between the sites are quite long, so you’ll use different forms of local transport along the way. In my case, we used a tuk-tuk from the hotel, several rickshaws between sites, and even took a boat across the Buriganga River, which added to the experience. You should expect to cover your own transport and entrance fees, either directly or by reimbursing George if he pays on your behalf. I personally found it easiest to just handle most of the smaller expenses myself. Unfortunately, I visited on 1 May, which was a public holiday, so both the Ahsan Manzil Museum and Lalbagh Fort were closed, though we still stopped for photos outside. On the plus side, the roads were much clearer than usual, because Dhaka traffic can be intense on normal days. Although GuruWalk lists the tour as four hours due to platform limitations, realistically you should set aside much longer on a regular day if you want to comfortably cover all the stops. Overall, it was a really good introduction to Dhaka, and I’m glad I got to see so many highlights with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Thanks, George!

Pocas veces escribo una review, pero ánimo encarecidamente a todo el que lea esto de que coja este tour. Lo hice solo y es lo mejor que hice ya que es imposible ver todo lo que Dhaca ofrece si vas por libre (y te lo dice un viajero con más de cien países a la espalda). Even though I have visited Dhaka previously I wanted to get a better grasp of the city. Rosetta was great!! She skipped the places I've been and took me to new places so that I learned more. Greatly appreciated her customization and making sure that I had a great time.

What a fun and informative few hours we had walking around Dhaka with Rosetta. She is a bundle of local knowledge, historical, political and social. She is passionate about her country, it's people, art, poetry, past, present and future. She is comfortable to be with from the outset and happy to tailor the walk to what we were interested in. Rosetta perfectly tailored the tour to the important parts of Dhaka. We visited different markets, parks, fairs and art exhibitions. We sampled food and interacted with locals. And of course we took a rickshaw. I've learned so much about Dhaka and Bangladesh. I highly recommend taking this tour.

He was a great at recommending other places to visit across Bangladesh and often helps travellers with their travels. I definitely recommend taking the tour with Gorge in the morning as it is very comprehensive and you'll get a lot done!! We had an arts and culture focused tour visiting some fascinating spots I would have never seen without her. He has recommended me to go outside Dahka because it should be more valuable, so we went Sonargaon, southwest from Dahka by 2 hours car ride. Consequently it is very good option. He is very trustable person and has many options for visitors. I can encourage the persons who go to Dahka to contact him.

On this day Gorge took me to a rural area outside Dhaka to experience more authenticity and how people live in the villages. It was an amazing tour, we visited one of his friends and had a lot of local food prepared for lunch. He also took care of booking all the train tickets and transfers, which would have been impossible for me.
