This self guided walking tour was great. We especially loved the pier. Ilya included a bit of information about each historical place so we learned a bit on the way. It was helpful to have his PDF with suggested places to guide our time in Essaouira.

Really cool experience to guide yourself through Essaouira with the guide of this map. Showing you really authentic places and feeling like a local. Also what I really loved the most is that you can take your time and make it at your own peace. With the help of this map we managed to discover hidden places in Essaouira that we would never have found by ourselves. One of the highlights was the women’s cooperative in the medina. We were lucky to meet Hakima and try their tea with amlou, slilou and homemade honey - such a warm and authentic experience. Highly recommended if you want to see the real side of the city.

I really enjoyed this tour because it was a mix of some historical facts and non typical interests. Ilya provides an expat's view and therefore shares some really interesting businesses and places to visit. I've been on a lot of these tours in other countries and while many are guided by trained historians, those people share the same kinds of things you can read on Wikipedia. Ilya's tour felt more underground and original to me. History is interesting but modern culture is more useful.

Ilya es un muy simpático guía que hace el paseo por essaouira muy entretenido e interesante. Es simpático verlo caminar y saludar a todos los locales a pesar de solo llevar 3 años en la ciudad. Muy agradable paseo

This is a great walk to do on your first day to get your bearings. It was the perfect start to my trip with Ilya providing tips and recommendations you wouldn't normally get from your hotel or hostel. He's a friendly easy going guide and shows what life for a young local looks like.

I loved every aspect of it, I'd been self exploring for a month, and had managed to walk past all the hidden gems! I just wished I took this tour on my first day in Essaouira. It opened my eyes to things I did not see.
