I’ve been on walking tours in many countries in Europe etc but this is easily the best walking tour I’ve done. Thabo’s passion as a tour guide really shines through as he explains the history and beauty of Soweto. We felt perfectly safe throughout our tour. His stellar reviews speak for themselves. Thank you, Thabo!

Thabo was a very cool guide and gave us a nice tour of the soweto neighborhood. We were a large group and had a baby with us and he was very understanding as well. Totally recommend doing a tour with him.

It was the best Free Walking Tour I ever did. Thabo was so incredibly friendly, spontaneous and informative. The tour ended up taking more than four hours, because it was just the two of us and we kept chatting, eating and drinking even after the tour was technically already over. Especially loved that I got to experience parts of Soweto that I wouldn’t have otherwise, Drive in the local taxis and get to talk to locals. At the same time I always felt safe and in great hands. 10/10, would definetly recommend!

With our guru walk Thabo, we have felt very safe and also comfortable with all the information provided by him on our tour. Thabo is a very charismatic person who makes you laugh while telling his stories about the places, which makes it fun. Thabo also always has good advice and tips about the city that we really appreciate

Best things to do and see in Johannesburg

Although Johannesburg is not the capital of the South African country, you wouldn’t notice it as its diversity and its densely populated urban metropolis make up for this to make it a truly amazing place to visit. At the southern tip of the African continent, this city enjoys a pleasant climate that makes it perfect for exploring the iconic landmarks and archeological sites that make it so famous. Even though there are traces of humans inhabiting this area for many centuries, the official city of Johannesburg was founded on a small farm where gold was discovered in 1886. Strike gold during your vacation by doing a free walking tour with GuruWalk.

If you do a free walking tour in Johannesburg, you’ll have the chance to visit the city’s most iconic landmarks and get to see some of its hidden charms. Visit the Apartheid Museum, walk over to Nelson Mandela Square or visit the Mandela House Museum, and then see Constitution Hill, or see the views at the Carlton Centre skyscraper. The Johannesburg Art Gallery is where you can feast your eyes and then you can check out the Maboneng Precinct, a hip neighborhood that has something for everyone. Just outside of the city, you can visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Cradle of Mankind and be amazed.

A great way to get to know which tour is best for your interests is by reading up on the reviews and ratings about both the route and the tour guide in Johannesburg posted by other tourists on the GuruWalk platform. These tours are available in different languages and are also scheduled in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
