Free Walking of the Andes Queen
Tour description
The city of Riobamba was created in the years of 1799, after a devastating earthquake that destroyed the colonial city. During the tour we will be walking through its streets, visiting its squares, churches, parks as well as admiring its architecture. Our starting point will be the Riobamba train station, designed by architect William Alanson Wood. Around the railway station, there is "Plaza Alfaro" handicraft square and the train square, where you can enjoy the crafts of the area and elaborated products. We will visit the park April 21 and Maldonado de Riobamba, located in front of the Cathedral and being the Plaza Mayor of the city. We will cross the street and enter the Cathedral of Riobamba, built in the 18th century with a Baroque architectural style characterized by the use of stone, in which passages of the old and new testament can be interpreted, with aboriginal and Spanish expressions. Finally, those who wish, can have a coffee accompanied by a sweet or ice cream made with ice from the Chimborazo volcano, collected by the Chimborazo ice makers
