Free Walking Tours at Antigua Guatemala

I really enjoyed the tour with Harold. He gave everyone personal attention and let us ask questions if needed. He was very informative and proud of his heritage, culture, community, and country. He gave recommendations on food places and coffee places. He didn't walk too fast either. I will definitely recommend him to others or even do this again!.

Such a great walking tour! We did it on the first morning of our time in Antigua and it was the perfect start. The history was incredibly interesting and we have been going to the places Alfredo recommended and they have all been 10/10.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience on the free walking tour through Antigua with Alfredo! He is an outstanding guide who shares his impressive knowledge of the city and its history in a very engaging way. What stood out most was his excellent English; he speaks slowly and clearly, making it effortless to follow every detail. Alberto was also incredibly kind and patient with all our questions, which made for a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We were truly impressed, had a lot of fun, and would highly recommend him to anyone visiting. Thank you so much for such a wonderful morning 😊

Victor is a knowledgable and kind man. I showed up to his 9am tour to a surprise of no other participants. He asked if I could come back for his 12pm tour, to which I gladly agreed. Until then, he helped me convert money, buy a hat, and acquire some new sandals. I was able to practice my Spanish with him as well, as we spoke about Guatemala's history and he was able to answer my questions with expert precision. The actual tour itself was also enriching. I've kept in touch with Victor for additional questions/advice about traveling in the country. 11/10 recommend.

I cannot recommend this tour with Harold enough! His family has lived in Antigua for generations and you can tell his love and pride for his home. Beyond the walking tour, which is a great way to get the lay of the land and some history, Harold provided so many recommendations for Antigua and the surrounding area - from restaurant and coffee shops to activities. This has helped me shape my itinerary. I'd do this on day one of your trip if you can.

We enjoyed our tour with Victor. He gave us historical facts to understand how Antigua evolved in time and how the country deals with his Mayan history. The tour allowed us to have the basis to continue exploring the other colonial places in the city. And we went to a rooftop recommending by him twice as the view of the volcanoes were amazing. Overall a great tour in great English so easy to follow.

Alfredo was great. He provided valuable information about not only Antigua but Guatemalan history and culture and gave a great introduction to understand the city more. He was also very easy to understand and the group size was small.

We had a great time meeting Victor and having him guide us through the beautiful and historic center of Antigua Guatemala. The information he provided us really helped us to plan the rest of our visit to the city, and he even helped us to arrange a cooking class with another local guide in Antigua! Victor is wonderful! Clearly so passionate about his home country and eager to share it generously with others.

Victor is a very energetic and social guy who knows how to crack a joke. Although he can bring the ambiance, the tour lacked information about the past of Antigua. I really wanted to learn more about the city’s history, cultural richness, and insights. I felt like he delivered in some parts, but also dwelled way too much and often on other random, unrelated facts, such as the cost of the wedding in Guatemala of someone he met, a jaguar that was spotted in Tikal. What bothered me most of all, were all the countless spots we stopped at, where he would promote his friends’ businesses. A jade seller, a travel organiser, an ice cream parlour, and a bakery for some banana bread. ‘The prosperous past of La Antigua’ sounded like we were getting a lot of historical information, but rather, it felt like we were listening to one long commercial from the second half of the tour.

The tour exceeded all expectations. We are a family of three with a teenager and it was a perfect tour that was informative and entertaining. Our tour guide Alfredo is very knowledgeable and explained some of the history of Guatamala, Mayan traditions and gave us insight to present day Antigua Guatamala. As it is the period of Lent, Alfredo adapted the tour to include visiting areas where there will be processions for Easter and we were able to see the beautiful processional “carpets” being assembled. This was a highlight for me. You should not miss a tour with Alfredo!

Loved the tour! Harold was very personable and shared so much information about his beautiful city. I thought it was fun and informative, loved the stop at the jade museum at the end as well. Highly recommend!

Este tour debería ser parte imprescindible de cualquier visita a Antigua. Pablo, local de la ciudad, transmite una pasión auténtica por lo que hace. Es un auténtico enamorado de la historia de su país y del mundo: su cabeza parece una enciclopedia, llena de fechas, citas y anécdotas que hacen que todo cobre vida. Además, es una ventaja que hable tantos idiomas, ya que consigue conectar de forma personal con cada uno, incluso si el grupo es numeroso. Visitar los pueblos de los alrededores de Antigua y subir al chicken bus junto a los locales es toda una experiencia: divertida, auténtica y tan amena que el tiempo pasa volando a pesar de durar 4h30. Great tour that I really recommend! Pablo is very informative and knowledgeable about everything, he wants you to have a good time during his tour. The tour says about 2,5h but it’s more like 4 h so have that in mind and don’t make any reservations to early after the tour!

We joined Pablo for a chicken bus tour to the surrounding villages outside Antigua. Unfortunately, we had to cut the tour short because of our own time constraints, but even the part we experienced — visiting one of the villages and stopping at a local chocolate workshop — was absolutely worth it. Pablo is not just a guide, he’s a historian with genuine curiosity and passion. He connects the colonial history of Antigua with present-day village life in a way that feels alive and relevant. You can tell he’s deeply interested in culture, architecture, politics, and everyday realities — and he explains everything with clarity and humor. He also brings great energy to the group and has a natural, funny way of storytelling that makes the experience both informative and relaxed. We would definitely recommend Pablo to anyone who wants to understand Antigua beyond the postcard version — whether in the city itself or in the surrounding villages. Highly recommended.

The tour was very good for a short tour. Alfredo was wonderful. He sent us a confirmation WhatsApp message giving us the meeting point for the tour. Alfredo was easy to locate. He greeted us nicely. Alfredo took us around several of the well known sights and gave a lot of information about Guatemala's history.
