Come with us to discover one of the most special neighborhoods in Seville, the Santa Cruz neighborhood, the old Jewish quarter of Seville.
A neighborhood that Muslims inhabited for 5 centuries and, since the Reconquest of Seville in 1248 by the Christians, was the Jewish quarter of the city, until the expulsion of the Catholic Monarchs in 1492.
We will talk about this Jewish community, about the synagogues that were ceded to them, the walls, the curfews, the coexistence with the Christians... and the terrible massacre of 1391 .
In addition, we will not stop there, we are also going to discover the Christian history of the neighborhood , with its great monuments such as the Hospital de los Venerables Sacerdotes, from the 17th century, or the Church of Santa María la Blanca, the old synagogue of the neighborhood, which Will not leave you indifferent. We will discover great stories that have been based on the neighborhood, such as the Barber of Seville opera or the work of the mythical Don Juan Tenorio.
