About the Tour

Florence is, as many know, the cradle of the Renaissance, and in addition to this also a true open-air museum. On this tour we will see the most significant monuments and places of the city that some of the most important artists in history magano great. We will begin our visit in the square of Santa Maria Novella, famous for a forgotten tradition, the chariot race. We will also admire the beautiful facade of the church, the work of the genius of Leon Battista Alberti, a famous theorist and architect of the 15th century. Our visit continues in the religious center of the city, cathedral square, the famous cathedral surmounted by the majestic dome, by Filippo Brunelleschi, which still arouses the curiosity of architects and engineers and the admiration of those who are looking at it. We will then continue towards the square that is still the political center of Florence today, Piazza della Signoria. But before we get there we will visit the small church of Orsanmichele, a building born as a barn, then converted into a place of worship, which today houses some of the most beautiful statues by artists such as Donatello and Verrocchio. In Piazza della Signoria, in the shadow of the imposing Palazzo Vecchio, you can admire statues such as Michelangelo's David, Giambologna's Rapture of the Sabines and Donatello's Marzocco, you will also discover some of the most significant events of the city's folklore. The last part of our itinerary will be dedicated to Ponte Vecchio, dating back to 1345, and to the river above it, the Arno. The river that was, over the centuries, fortune and misfortune for the inhabitants of Florence. We will conclude our walk, for those who wish, with an all-Florentine delight. Ice-cream.

Our tour today was brilliant, Vincenzo was very knowledgeable, a great guide, looked after us (there was only myself & wife on the tour, so we were able to chat about other things, ie traditional foods & the local rivalry football!) we learnt lots & lots of historical detail, he also made the tour fun, would highly recommend
