Barrio Franklin, the largest Flea Market in Latin America.
Tour description
Flea Market Franklin - Matadero was founded in 1847, as an initiative of the President of the time, Don Manuel Bulnes, with the purpose of organizing in better conditions the supply of meat to the city and its derived products. Over the years, and at the beginning of the 20th century, the sector mutated from being a remote and poor place in the city center destined for the residence of the most dispossessed people of Santiago, to becoming a thriving neighborhood. commercially, with its own identity and cultural nature, which has prompted it to be called "Living and Cultural Heritage of Santiago". This tour invites you to discover the essence that characterizes the Franklin Matadero Market, to reveal the history that precedes it, in search of the best flavors offered by its extensive gastronomic market and, as special and characteristic as that, its immense Flea Market, that rivals in size and variety the best known in South America such as the Santelmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
