Hello globetrotters !! I am Berto, Guru of Ávila. First of all, I would describe myself as a kind, attentive, thoughtful person, a fan of culture and especially medieval history. I love dealing with people, learning about new national and international cultures, as well as continuing to learn new languages. After living in several cities in Spain, I stay with my host city, my little Ávila. And it is true that we will not have a metro or an airport, but the gastronomy, culture and well-being that we have here do not buy with gold. Disconnection, tranquility, fresh air, history and good food is what you will find in my city. I know that my company during the tour, will make you enjoy as a small child, discovering the most hidden legends of the city, and I, and decided to go out to teach it, so that you leave with the feeling that you have not not a single corner to discover, in a small city, but with a lot of charm.
After meeting at the meeting point, we will begin our tour of the city. We will begin observing the magnificent and impressive construction of the Cover of San Vicente, there we will go back in time to the medieval period, setting ourselves in those rudimentary houses built at the foot of the exteriors of the wall. We will continue the tour, observing various inscriptions located on the granite ashlars, used in the reconstruction of the wall. Can you imagine the meaning of the depth of these ashlars? We will arrive at another high point of the tour, perhaps one of the most important in the history of the town, where the life of Dº Alfonso, future heir of Castile, was protected. Biological son of Dña Urraca, and adoptive son for second nuptials of Dº Alfonso I El Batallador, king of Aragon. After learning the history of the future king, we will go inside the walls to observe the first first Gothic Cathedral built in Spain and the different times that its construction suffered. Do you think that under this impressive temple, secrets and legends are kept? Can you imagine discovering them? Also, we will get to know the life and work of the bell-ringer, an essential figure in the temple, to attend to the ringing of bells that happened throughout the day in the cathedral tower. Likewise, we will locate the facade of your home, and the reason for its location. Do you want to know what it was like inside? We will continue the tour with one of the most beautiful and tragic stories at the same time, in one of the most unknown streets in the city. There, we will look for 3 symbols, which will give us clues to discover the history that occurred. We will arrive at the old headquarters and door of the Alcázar, where we will observe two of the most important figures in the transition from Ávila, Mr. Adolfo Suárez and Ms. Teresa de Cepeda y Ahumada, although he will remember you more for Santa Teresa de Jesús. We will continue along the Paseo del Rastro, observing the magnificent views of the Province of Ávila, at the same time that we will discover the continuous destruction and subsequent looting, as well as its reconstruction techniques. After touring several of the access doors to the Villa, we will conclude the visit in the Plaza de La Santa, there, we will visit the old house and gardens of Teresa de Cepeda and Ahumada, currently converted into a temple in honor of her name. Next, we will visit different temples, discovering their legends and secrets, to end the visit at the most photographed point in Ávila, 4 Postes, an old humilladero. Here we will know the history by which Teresa de Jesús was banished from the city for several years. And we will finish with a group panoramic view, with that beautiful background so that you can take a memory of your visit. REMARKS: Certain monuments are paid, the entrance is exempt from the tour, allowing participants to access the facilities for their prior payment and decision. .
