Arkeo Tour arose from an idea of a group of young Andalusians and Madrid lovers of its History, its culture and its heritage. Our team is made up of great professionals with extensive experience in managing tourist groups and cultural visits in different parts of Spain. Most of us have trained on the street, collaborating in different archaeological sites, art galleries and museums. We consider that our land has great heritage and cultural potential that must be valued for both residents and tourists. We do not believe that transmitting our history is a pain. We want you to enjoy. May you live the experience. And that you impregnate yourself with the vestiges of our past. Join this adventure!

About the tour

Madrid, as the capital of Spain, is one of the places where we can find the most vestiges and memories of the bloody Civil War that shook the country between 1936 and 1939. The city, seat of the Republican Government, was under Franco's siege during practically all of the strife and could feel firsthand the harshest consequences of the conflict. Today these traces can still be seen in its buildings, monuments, urban layout and traditions. During our route we will know some of the main monuments and buildings erected to honor the Franco victory in the Moncloa District. We will go into the Parque del Oeste to locate the forts that are still standing and that served the rebels to continuously attack the city. We will go up to the Temple of Debod, where the rebellious Barracks of the Mountain used to be, and from there we can see Cerro Garabitas, one of the places from where the center of Madrid was bombed with shells. We will also visit the Conde Duque Barracks, which remained loyal to the Republic until the end and, later, we will walk to places that served to shelter the most precious assets of churches and palaces or anti-aircraft shelters to protect citizens from bombs. We will arrive at the old Pious Schools of San Antón, which acted as a Czech and a prison during the 1930s, and we will finish our tour in Madrid's Gran Vía, next to the Telefónica Building, from whose roof the republican side watched the Francoist advances by the Casa de Countryside. We have designed an educational and entertaining route so that you know all the details of this important historical event in Madrid. What are you waiting for? Reserve your place today and experience history.
