The word Petraio does not derivate from the name of the stone quarry, bur from from a place where flood rains deposit pebbles, the layout of the uphill way follows the route of one of the many alluvial riverbeds of Vomero, where a village was subsequently built, which over the years has become a place for wealthy families.
