Guided visit to the Baptistery and the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano and the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, where the relics of the Passion of Jesus are kept.
The Lateran Basilica is the first church built at the behest of the Emperor Constantine and, therefore, it is defined as the mater et caput of all the churches of Rome and the world.
This Basilica is the Cathedral of the Diocese of Rome and the seat of the Bishop of Rome, the Supreme Pontiff.
Next to the Basilica is the Baptistery, the oldest monumental baptistery in the city, built together with the Basilica at the behest of Constantine himself.
Ten minutes from the Lateran complex is the little-known Basilica of the Santa Croce in Gerusalemme , originally built in a wing of the Sessoriano Palace owned by the empire and commissioned by Constantine and his mother Elena to still keep the relics of the Passion of Christ, preserved today in a chapel of the Basilica.
