Tour description

Welcome to Istanbul Dear Food Hunters!

Our tour consists of tasting some Turkish and Middle Eastern food and drinks. We will be having selected tastes in residential areas of Istanbul's old city.

We also aim to give you some ideas on where the locals spend their time for reasonable price cafes and restaurants.

* Tour is not friendly with vegetarians. It is for those who are open to discovering new tastes. If you are not such a person, you may join our other tours that we also inform (not taste) you about Turkish Cuisine and street food in Turkey.

* During the tour you need to keep with you 600 - 700 Turkish Lira to try some of the tastes.

* Tour starts next to M2 Vezneciler Metro Station and finishes at M1 Emniyet/Fatih Metro Station. So we plan it for you to make your way easy.

* Tour route will around 2.2km.

*
Please note that at the end of the tour, you are expected to tip the guide minimum 10 Pounds, 10 Dollars, 10 Euros or 400 liras per person

The Guru guide gave a comprehensive description of Turkish food and where they could be found and assisted with the purchase of samples of food for tasting. A very enjoyable tour.

Would thoroughly recommend the tour - certainly giving us more of an insight into the Turkish way of life. Our tour guide Onder being informative and helpful showing us many places we’d never have seen or found without him . After the tour he’s since sent us further information on places to eat / visit .

We really enjoyed the tour. The guide Önder is fantastic! He don’t speak like he learned the text one time and just repeat it for every group. The tour is more like a walk with your friend, but you can also learn a lot about Istanbul, historie and of course about food. We taster food almost from all places we were through (prices are affordable), everything was so tasty that we wanted to eat more! 😀 If we had more time in Istanbul we would definitely come back to those places and eat there again. If you have a short stay in Istanbul I would definitely recommend to join this tour to feel vibe of real Istanbul, not the touristic version. By the way, we were together with our 2 years old son and he enjoyed the food too. It was ok to go with a stroller.

Onder was a very pleasant man and provided a lot of information and we liked the choices of foods at the places that he took us to. It was a great introduction to foods that the Turkish people themselves cherish. Not all westerners are going to embrace this food but we definitely liked it. I do believe that the visit to a mosque (voluntary) should be included in the listed itinerary. Highly recommended provided you are open to foods that are different from what you are used to eating.
