My name is Elia, I am a very active person with many hobbies. Graduated in tourism, Official Guide and Graduated in English Philology. I have worked as a guide in Manresa, my hometown, and in some towns in Cantabria for different foreign institutions and schools. In my free time I write children's books in English and Spanish. Throughout this tour of one hour and 20 minutes we will walk through the picturesque streets of Comillas, the Villa de los Arzobispos while we enjoy its most emblematic monuments such as La Fuente Tres Caños, the Casa Ocejo, the Palace of Sobrellano, the Capricho de Gaudí and the Pontifical University .
We will visit these magnificent places while discovering their history. We will see the house where King Afonso XII stayed . Did you know that Comillas was the capital of Spain for a day?
I will show you a sculpture that had to be relocated since it did not enter the place it was destined to be. Let's see who is the first on the tour to discover it!
We will see all the details of Gaudí's Capricho , as well as its relationship with music and why there are so many sunflowers on the façade.
We will find two figures hidden in the entrance gate of the University and I will explain why they are there.
We will continue towards the cemetery where we have an amazing story to tell you, but first we will give a few brushstrokes to the history of Comillas with the cinema.
24 films have been recorded in Comillas and we will go through some of the enclaves where they have been filmed, I will also tell you that I have participated in the recording of 4 of them. Comillas is so beautiful that film directors have been filming their films in our town since 1935.
