Tour description

Intra-mural, fun & intelligent energetic strolls, hipping on Ancient & Recent Art & Ideals at The BRITISH MUSEUM.

  • The British Museum contains one of the most extensive and significant Collections of Ancient and Historic World Art of more than 8 million artefacts, nowadays as well comprising very select Contemporary Artworks. Let's time-travel together through its many spaces that host the unique exhibits of the Civilisations-in-Connections, which form our Global Heritage Culture.

  • I shall be revealing to you unknown tales, buried in the sands of time, of the immaculate nexus of monumental Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Egyptian, and Ottoman Kings and Kingdoms; and of their peoples' tools for work, trades, traditions, wars and religions through the aeons. We will be inspecting an astonishing accumulation of astronomical knowledge, heart-touching-beautiful ceramic and miniature painting, delectable olfactory and tasteful coffe-making, and a spectacular delivery of Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi, Manijeh Yadegar, Khalil Joreje, and Joana Hadjithomas' Contemporary Art.

  • We shall be tracing the deciphered contents of the Rosetta Stone and Jean-Francois Chambollion's Orientalist deciphering context, two centuries ago. In the Enlightenment Rooms, we shall discuss the establishment of Archaeology by Johann Joachim Winckelmann and Comte de Caylus and the overall rising in the 17th and 18th centuries of the re-connective strings of free-thinking research and science.

  • In the Greek and Roman Galleries, I shall narrate to you unadvertised myths and legends of the Olympian Gods, Athena and Aphrodite, of Hercules, Jason and Theseus and of many Homeric Iliad and Odyssey Heroes, represented in the Museum's sculptures and painted Vases. Trailing the formation of Ancient Greece to the philosophy, maths, science and the victorious wars of Classical Athens' Democracy, I shall recount to you the multiplex theory creative secrets within the superb Parthenon Marbles by Phidias.
  • Revealing the shadowy romantic life of Alexander the Great, lost in the cosmopolitan Hellenistic States and the Library of Alexandria, I shall also teach you to read and speak the ancient Greek writings on amphorae and stelae! And, revisiting Cicero's aspirations for Rome and the defeat of Cleopatra's hybrid Hellenism by Julius Caesar's Roman Empire, we shall find undisclosed discourse between Greek and Latin, Theatre and Amphitheatre, Writers-Actors and Gladiators; additionally, we shall read and speak Latin!

  • In the British, Middle and Later European History Galleries, we shall examine specific exhibits of importance, like The Royal Gold Cup, which highlight the ascent of a uniting culture of European peoples.

  • Finally, I shall take you through the history of the founding of the British Museum itself: who the   founder was of this world’s oldest public national museum, its contributing collectors, sponsors and curators, its universal spirit of ethnographic study and famous architecture to the contemporary Great Court and the story of, just before 1939, 'the biggest, mass evacuation of objects in any museum's history'.
