Hidden Gems of Kaunas - Free Walking Tour
I am an enthusiastic Kaunas resident who is a professional guide and culture lover. I enjoy Kaunas every day, living its atmosphere, and discovering new details that help me to love the city even more.
Tour description
Kaunas is blessed with a cosy environment- spacious fine buildings, two rivers converging into one and plenty of trees.
It was once a castle, then a fortress city and later it became the cultural and political centre of the whole country. And now it is a small, quiet town with a distinctive culture, where the townspeople themselves create big part of environment.
The tour will give you a sense of what Kaunas is all about, presenting the most important parts of the city as well as seeing the "hidden gems". I believe that you need to see not only the "big things", but hidden parts as well. Those details tells not less important stories.
You will visit:
- Old Kaunas Post Office
- Site of Romas Kalanta self- immolation
- "Courtyard gallery"
- Central Bank of Lithuania
- Local yars
- Interwar modernist architecture buildings
- Church of Saint Gertrude
- "Secret chapel"
- Cathedral of Kaunas
Tour will not happen with less than 3 participants!
