Tour guide didn't really show us much. I think because it was Holy Week, it was a bit chaotic. He literally just walked us to a procession, and we watched it.....for a long time. I learned more from a random local bystander (watching the procession) than the tour guide about the significance of Holy Week. He was too quiet when he spoke, so we couldn't hear much. It was kind of like follow the leader the entire time without much information. He didn't go over much of the history of the carpets. We also didn't go to a ton of monuments. Cherry on the cake, the last church we went to (the yellow one with white plaster), there was a crowd surge, and my bag was cut (luckily I didn't get stabbed), and my wallet was stolen out of it. I have traveled for 20 years, and have never had a bag or wallet stolen. I was surprised this happened during Holy Week in Antigua. Tour guides should reinforce with tourists to be extra vigilant in this city of their surroundings and environment, because it clearly is not safe.

His tour included alfombras in the process of being completed and a full Palm Sunday procession, including cleanup of the alfombras afterwards. A nice extra touch was the experience of using water to bring out the red dye from the insects.

Very worthwhile tour - learned a lot, and great to see the carpets being prepared and catch the parade.
