Tour description

Discover Bucharest’s Hidden Street Art Scene – A Journey from Rebellion to Expression

Over 30 years ago, Bucharest was a gray city, where writing on a wall could get you in trouble. Following the fall of communism, the city was transformed into an European destination for graffiti artists.

What once was just a clandestine meeting point for graffiti writers near Romana Square has evolved into a vibrant open-air gallery, filled with bold colors, powerful messages, and extraordinary artistic talent. Today, the streets of Bucharest tell new stories through murals that change every year, surprising even returning visitors.

On this tour, you’ll uncover hidden gems tucked away in plain sight—murals that serve as perfect backdrops for spontaneous fashion shoots or professional photography. You’ll explore the fine line between rebellious street tagging and sophisticated muralism, and gain insight into the cultural, historical, and even mystical influences that inspire Romanian urban artists.

This tour will be an eye-opener not just when it comes to exploring Bucharest, but also a way to get a real insight into Romanian culture, society and art. Join us for this different experience of the city!
