On Sunday afternoons, entry to the castle is free.
If you want to enjoy SPECTACULAR 360º views from the roof, do not hesitate to sign up for the tour.
I invite you to get to know the city away from the crowds of the center and enjoy the spectacular views of Barcelona from Montjuïc .
We will talk about the history of Barcelona, its genesis and how it became the most important city on the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula.
We will discuss the urban planning of Barcelona, how a small Roman city grew throughout the Middle and Modern Ages, how its growth was prohibited and how it was planned after the end of the prohibition.
About how Barcelona was bombed from the castle and its role in social and political repression. A story of love and hate with the city.
How a part of the mountain was developed for the 1929 Universal Exhibition and its current uses.
We will cross gardens, quarries, parks, swimming pools...
We will start at the top of Montjuïc and go down the mountain to see the city, and the mountain, from their heights. As we go down towards Plaza España we will visit several places of interest where we will stop to explain, and see, their stories and characteristics.
We will visit:
- Exterior of the Castle
- The Mirador de l'Alcalde
- Joan Brossa Gardens
- Montjuïc Municipal Swimming Pool
- Laribal Gardens
- Jardins del Teatre Grec and amphitheater
- National Museum of Art of Catalonia
- Maria Cristina Avenue
- Plaza España
The meeting point is the main entrance to the castle.
To get to the meeting point, from Plaza España you can take bus 150 and it takes you to the top, where the castle is located. Do not confuse the castle with the palace that can be seen from Plaza España.
You can also access it from the Paral.lel metro station, from there you take the funicular and when you go down, to the left of the exit, you can take bus 150 to the top.
You can walk up, but it costs more than it seems 😀.
