Free tour La Latina NIGHT: Tapas and wines
Tour description
I propose a historical and gastronomic tour through one of the oldest neighborhoods with the most nightlife in Madrid.
Did you know that the La Latina neighborhood was the home of the Islamic community during the Middle Ages?
Did you know that the origin of the tapa is attributed to King Alfonso XIII?
Throughout this tour we will learn about the different facets of this emblematic neighborhood : the traditional, the productive-commercial, the suburban area and, of course, the tavern, which is linked to the origin of the famous tapas. In addition to enjoying walking through the city illuminated at night with its wonderful views and unique cuisine.
What will we do?
We will meet in the Plaza de Tirso de Molina to introduce ourselves and introduce the tour and, from there, begin to delve into the neighborhood.
We will start by visiting the area where El Rastro (the most famous and legendary street market in Madrid) takes place every Sunday to learn about its history, and here our first gastronomic stop will also take place, where we will try some typical dishes and get started in the world of Spanish wine. , tasting the first of the three that we will try along the tour.
Then we will head towards the church of San Francisco El Grande and along the way we will discover about the commercial function that this area had and has, and then immerse ourselves in the origins of something as typical Spanish as tapa (while, of course, We tasted them accompanied by another great Spanish wine).
As a break between gastronomic stops, we will enjoy a spectacular nighttime panoramic view of Madrid (ahhh…surprise…) and we will learn about the medieval past of La Latina through the Plaza de la Paja and its surroundings.
Next we will make our third gastronomic stop in the famous and legendary Cava Baja and, to finish, we will approach the Plaza de los Carros, where we will discover its most notable buildings and the history of one of the most transcendental characters of the city.
La Latina has a special charm and it is not surprising that it is one of the main meeting points for Madrid residents.
Come with me to experience the nightlife of this incredible city!
