I am a tour guide in Andalusia, officially accredited by the Ministry of Tourism of the Regional Government of Andalusia. I am an expert on Holy Week in Seville, a city I know intimately. Currently, I offer free guided tours of the city with specialized themed routes. I also have a YouTube channel called "Holy Week in Drawings, by Juan Manuel Barragán."

Tour description

Seville was once known as a city of convents. From the time it began to hold the monopoly on trade with the Americas in the 16th century, there was only one place for friars to embark to evangelize the New World: its port of the Indies. For this reason, the main religious orders hastened to create or strengthen their large convents, or "Casas Grandes Conventuales," to train their religious and ensure a leading role in the founding of churches, missions, and new convents in the newly discovered territories.

I propose a fun and educational tour of the most important "Casas Grandes" (Great Houses), discovering the art and treasures they still hold. We'll begin at the Dominican Convent, now the Church of La Magdalena. From there, we'll go to the Mercedarian Convent, now the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville. Next, we'll continue to Calle Baños to visit the Carmelite Convent. Finally, we'll see what remains of the Franciscan Convent: the now-vanished Convent of San Francisco.
A distinctive feature of my tour is the playful element where each participant is the star. Since there will be friendly competition, those who overcome the challenges (questions, etc.) will receive a small gift.
The tour is free, although at the end anyone who wants to can leave a contribution so that I can continue creating future tours and more people can benefit from them.
*For non-EU citizens, the Museum of Fine Arts has an entrance fee of €1.50. For EU citizens, it is free.
