Tour description

Between 1936 and 1939, Madrid became one of the great symbols of the Spanish Civil War .

It was not just a city at war, but a veritable laboratory of modern warfare.
For almost three years, the capital lived under bombing, hunger, propaganda and the daily resistance of a civilian population that became, for the first time, a military target.
On this tour we will explore some of the key locations of Republican Madrid to understand how the siege of the city was experienced, what military strategies were put into practice and why many historians consider the Spanish Civil War as the prelude to the Second World War.
We'll talk about air defense, shelters, propaganda, international correspondents, and daily life in a besieged city. All of this will be approached from a rigorous historical perspective, but also from a personal standpoint that connects these events to my own story and to how we view the past today.
It is not a journey through battles or endless dates, but a clear and contextualized explanation of how Madrid and its inhabitants lived through one of the most decisive episodes of the 20th century.
A tour designed for those who want to understand history beyond the headlines and connect events in Spain with the European and international context .
