Free walking tours in Amsterdam

Really nice experience! "Unfortunately", I was the only participant on the tour, but Floyd was kind enough to show up anyway and walk me through the city’s suggestive streets, sharing many interesting stories. He was extremely passionate, and you could really feel his passion for the city in the way he told its history - from the birth of capitalism, which has roots in this fascinating city, to spooky stories - also covering the city’s most famous topics (prostitution, drugs, and cheese lol). I truly recommend taking a tour with him!!

Emile was knowledgeable and well prepared, and always happy to answer any questions we had throughout the tour. He was excellent and we would thoroughly recommend this tour.

Adriana was fantastic from start to finish. The tour was absolutely fascinating and allowed us to see locations and learn about the history of Amsterdam in a way that would have been not possible without taking the tour- would highly recommend.

I have never gone on any tours before yesterday. A friend suggested I go while I was in Amsterdam and I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. James took us to a variety of places that I would never have known to stop and enjoy if not for the tour. I found the 1960s counter culture info to be really interesting and it made me aware of the Cobra Museum (a must see!). The religious, art, and trade history I learned about was also really interesting and not what I would have picked up on had I just read a few tour guides. All in all, this was a ton of fun. I'll be trying out tours again in the future and hope I come across guides that do it as well as James did in Amsterdam.

A thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience

The title of the tour is exactly what to expect (sacred gems in the old city). The guide Gary, is very knowledgeable on how christianity shaped the young and growing city of Amsterdam back in the day. Amidst the many coffee shops and brothels Gary is able to paint a picture of when Amsterdam was more a holy place. Eventhough the tour covers religion it is very easy to follow as an atheist. I can highly recommend the tour. You get new insights on the great city of Amsterdam.

Daniil is the most charming, charismatic and interesting tour guide. He will show you Amsterdam in the coolest lens possible. This tour is a must.

Great tour!

This was brilliant and showed me parts of Amsterdam I would not have seen. Some great explanation of history and the evolution of the city. Dominika was awesome at answering my questions! She uses pictures and maps to bring the discussion alive and is a font of knowledge for other places to visit. I'll definitely book some more of her tours. Thanks Dominika!! 😊

It was really fun. We were only a group of 4, but our tourguide still continued the tour.

The tour through Vondelpark on a Thursday evening was buzzing with people and the sun was still shining with the sights of dozens picnicking, biking, and enjoying the summer weather outdoors! Throughout, Pelle shared a wealth of knowledge about Vondelpark, Amsterdam history, and perspectives on Dutch culture. Stopping by the amphitheater, looking up at the trees to see parakeets, and snacking on Sultana cookies while hearing stories about the park were some added touches that really made the tour standout. I highly recommend this tour with Pelle as your guide.

Good pacing. For an hour and a half of your time, it is one of the best way to spend and have a glimpse of Amsterdam City. Noman was also great with his facts and had interesting insights. I like a lot that he shows pictures as props to convey the facts. He made the tour enjoyable and fun both for solo travelers and those in a group/family. Highly recommend this if you only have short time in the city.

Walking around the city with Paul was an amazing experience. He knows a lot about the city and its history. He is friendly and easy-going. We were a bit late and We know he is a new registered guide at Guru (however, he is an experience guide), but please don't be afaird to book a tour with him since with will be an amazing experience.

The tour was very interesting

Matthew is very passionate and very nice guide! It's a good guide and it's different from the other tours since it's a walking tour around the canals! It's nice! Definitely worth the tour.

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE 1 RATING. Niels is extremely knowledgeable and well versed with Amsterdam’s history. He showed us the important sites along the canals, and was very interactive and delightful. We would give him six stars if that was an option.

Dominika was fantastic. Excellent communication before the trip and follow up afterwards. She was fun and just brimming with information from historical to current political events as well as interesting quirky facts. I would thoroughly recommend her tour!

It was a lot a fun! Definitely recommend it to anybody that comes to Amsterdam. The guide was super friendly and he knows so much about the city that he could answer anything we asked him. Big plus is that he gave us a huge list of recommendations to try out. Overall just a great experience and must do.
