Our Jan 25 Athens trip was outstanding for more reasons than one. As an Hindu with Indian roots belonging to the world's oldest continuing civilisation with polytheism as a foundation and gorgeous deities who are celebrated and worshipped in full glory even today, I have always been fascinated by Greek gods and goddesses and the similarities in the two polytheistic approaches and philosophies. Visiting the temples as well as the ruins resonated deeply with us and was the highlight of our Athens trip. Every time I visit an Indian temple, I will now also pause for a moment to think about Zeus/Athena/Poseidon. The English-speaking lady guide was authentic, informative, friendly and proceeded at the right pace.
This tour was cancelled by the guide Alexia 2 days prior to the tour because of illness. Communications was sent through the GuruWalks app.
We only stayed for the first half as we had already seen the last few places. But she was very good and knowledgeable. Thanks!
Elena was so professional and prepared. I really enjoyed this tour.
Alessandro is very nice and have a lot of things to say, very interesting !
Very fun and friendly guide!!
I recommend this tour
The tour was excellent. Alexander's English was perfect. And the changing of the guards at the presidential palace is one of the most bizarre things ever - soldiers in skirts with pom poms on their shoes, doing a full on Ministry of Silly Walks. I guess the enemy dirs of laughter.
Great guide.polite with lots of knowledge
The walk was interesting with enough information but not over-kill. The route was good and I think we saw all the main sights at a good pace. William left us with some great restaurant recommendations too.
Alexandro was excellent - entertaining, very knowledgeable and shared all information in a great way
Alexa is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and full of information. We enjoyed the informative walk around with her furry friend. Thank you.
Informative, entertaining and pleasant experience with a very well-spoken and gregarious host Salvatore
Great way to see the city and learn about its rich history! So many beautiful things to see! Received many good food and restaurant recommendations, as well as places to visit after the tour. Thanks so much!
Perfect tour.
Walter is a great guide- knowledgeable, professional and entertaining. He is open to input from the group so that he covers what the group is interested in. Great local tips also. 😉
Very good tour and great guide!!!!
Bellissimo tour e guida molto simpatica e capace.
The tour with Dimitrios was super nice! I recommend it!
Amazing!!! A tour in Athens with Alexia and her little dog is absolutely essential. She is incredibly professional and entertaining, with outstanding knowledge of the city history, as well as Greek mythology. A truly unforgettable experience.
We enjoyed exploring Athens. Learned a lot of interesting facts and got to know the city
Alexia was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The tour felt like it went by quickly but at the end of it we learned a lot. 'Kefte' the dog was a great assistant and very kindly shared a lot of his inside knowledge about the best trees in Athens to pee on. We would recommend everyone to go on this tour!
I was looking forward doing the tour, but it was cancelled because the minimum expected people did not turn up. The group of 4 (including myself) was offered to proceed with the tour but at a cost of Euro 25 per person. Everyone declined the offer.
Elena is a Master Storyteller! The Best Way to See Winter Athens 🏛️❄️ A Warm Welcome in Wintry Athens My visit to Athens in December 2025 was made truly unforgettable thanks to Elena . Despite the cool December breeze, Elena's energy and warm personality made the entire group feel right at home from the moment we met at Syntagma Square. It is rare to find a guide who is as genuinely "nice" and approachable as she is; she felt less like a tour guide and more like a very knowledgeable local friend. Expertise That Breathes Life into Stone Elena's knowledge of Athens is staggering. She doesn't just recite facts; she paints a picture of the past. Historical Depth: She navigated us through the layers of history—from the Roman Agora to the Ottoman influence—with such clarity that even the most complex timelines made sense. Mythology & Culture: I loved how she blended ancient myths with the modern reality of Greek life. Her stories about the gods weren't just for kids—they were sophisticated, witty, and contextualized. Attention to Detail: She was incredibly patient with our many questions, answering everything from architectural queries to tips on the best local street food. The "Elena Touch": Above and Beyond What makes Elena special is her kindness. Throughout the tour, she: Timed our stops perfectly so we could catch the Changing of the Guard without the usual summer chaos. Shared "Local Secrets": She pointed out the best spots in Plaka to get a warm Raki with honey (the perfect December treat!) and hidden viewpoints that aren't on the standard tourist maps. Inclusivity: She made sure everyone in our diverse group felt included, moving at a pace that suited everyone while keeping the momentum high. Final Thoughts If you are lucky enough to find Elena on the schedule for a free walking tour, book it immediately . While the tour is tip-based, the quality of information and the friendliness she provides far exceed many expensive private tours I've taken in the past. Thank you, Elena, for making my December trip to Athens so magical! I left the tour not just with photos, but with a deep appreciation for the spirit of Greece.
