Roy provided a really interesting tour! The information he shared with us was mixed with day to day life and history ! He brought shared useful information about dining and shopping . He was also very passionate while explaining everything and had a nice sense of humor.

Roy has developed a really interesting walking tour which is a good length of time (max 2.5 hours). He is an enthusiastic guide, speaks excellent English, uses a microphone to ensure his voice is amplified, points out lots of interesting and unusual things, responds to all group questions and provides heaps of other post-tour recommendations of places to visit, eat at or just enjoy! I'd happily recommend this tour to others!

Our walk with Roy was a real pleasure! He shared a wealth of knowledge with us in a very interesting and engaging way, enthusiastically answered all our questions, and had a great sense of humour. Roy's tour was really fun and informative. He shared some interesting anecdotes about Beijing and walking through the Hutongs was particularly charming. Do carry a mosquito spray though because in September atleast, there seemed to be a lot of mosquitos around the Hutongs. That aside, it was great to hear Roy's perspective on modern China. Highly recommend his tour.

It's important to highlight that this your centers around the Hutongs and history behind them. Roy had a unique style with borderline irony and sarcasm that I enjoyed. A great introduction to cultural practices and customs for those visiting China for the first time

Roy is an amazing guide. I think is one of the best free tours I’ve ever attended. Sometimes in a tour you get hundreds of information that you cannot retain, but Roy was able to provide the right amount to understand the history and culture. He focused on one concept and repeating it to make sure everyone understands. He showed pictures and was super fun in the way he explained things. We are now continuing out China trip and we are still using the info he gave us to better understand other cities/temples as well. 1000% recommended.
