Free walking tours in Hiroshima

Leo was a wonderful tour guide of Miyajima Island and Itsukushima Shrine! He was extremely professional and enjoyed having fun with us. This tour was so much more than just an informational tour, it also turned out to be a food tour, so we got to try out several island favorites like matcha tea, Momiji cookies, and deep fried Hiroshima oysters! Leo was extremely knowledgable about the island as well as the history behind the famous shrine and floating Torii gates! I would highly recommend booking Leo if you’re interested in learning more about this beautiful island and the people who live there!

We went a few days ago and met Maria along with another traveller, so it was an intimate tour which was lovely. We could ask questions and enrich our knowledge very easily. Maria, first of all, is a professional - both on the guiding aspect but also, given that she is a chemist, knows a lot about the more difficult questions we asked and had a great way of infroming us with whatever we needed. The tour itself was good, even through it rained just a little bit we had many indoor parts of the tour so we had no problem with the weather. At the end of the tour she recommended a good Okonomiyaki just along the way which we enjoyed after finishing the tour. She always asked if we have more questions and was very kind. At times she spoke softly so it was difficult to hear but given we were a small group it wasn't an issue, though I believe in larger groups it can be a problem. Overall we were pleasntly surprised, thank you Maria for the lovely tour!

We really enjoyed our time with him and highly recommend asking for him by name as your tour guide. He’s very helpful with info we needed to get around for dinner. We booked him for a tour to Miyajima as well!

We had an incredible experience with our tour guide Leo in Hiroshima today. He shared so much detailed history about the atomic bombing that we would have never noticed or fully understood on our own. He explained important dates, numbers and historical facts with impressive clarity. You can truly tell how knowledgeable and passionate he is about the history of Hiroshima. He also gave us great local tips for places to eat and activities around the city, which we really appreciated. As a very touching gesture, he even gave us a small paper crane to leave at the Children's Peace Monument. That meant so much to us. We highly, highly recommend him. Wonderful tour around the monuments of the Hiroshima memorial park. We came down from Kyoto for the day and was worth the trip. Camille was a great guide, great communication before the trip, clear and explained the history well. Highly recommend.

A must do walking tour. Camille was amazing; high level of knowledge and ability to present this in the most informative way. It was a very powerful and humbling walking tour, graphically depicting the horrors of war, that sadly continue to this day.

What a great way to spend 2 hours on the Miyajima island, learning about the history, interesting facts, getting great photos of the Otorii gate, and discovering hidden secrets of Daishoin. As a foreigner, I appreciate learning the Japanese culture through Leo’s passionate lenses, and he spoke excellent English. Yes, it is totally doable to take the ferry and visit the island on your own, but you will miss out on all the interesting Japanese traditions of the shrine, recommended food spots, and hidden spots on the island. Leo also takes great photos, so book this tour and maximize your time in Hiroshima. Pro tip, I booked the 9-11am tour to beat the crowds and also to see both the high tide (10:30am) and low tide (after 12pm) views of the Otorii gate.
