Free Walking Tours In Sintra in the afternoon

Good pace for what is essentially an up hill walk as everywhere is in Sintra. Great information on Sintra, handy to end the tour to visit Quinta da Regaleira.

Raffaele was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and very professional. He took us through parts of the historic center of town as well as some of the nature areas. We enjoyed traditional Sintra pastries, and he showed us many beautiful views. One of the places I really wanted to visit was Quinta da Regaleiraz. As we knew when we booked with Guru, the walking tour did not include admission, and Raffaele gave a thorough description of the estate, castle, gardens, and the Initiation Well. Luckily we were able to visit after the walking tour. At the time there were no lines. Another place he told us about that I hadn’t heard of was Biester, an estate with beautiful gardens and a haunted looking mansion where the movie “The Ninth Gate” was filmed. After Raffaele shared that bit of information, I was inspired to visit. It was a fun unplanned activity that added to my overall positive experience of Sintra.

Catalina was an awesome person and host due to her kind and patient nature. Catalina's energy and love for Sintra was much appreciated through the near 3 hours of this tour. I could tell the rest of my tour-mates were also very impressed by Catalina on all parts. I learned so much hidden secrets of Sintra which made this trip all the more special. This was our first time visiting Sintra. Catalina showed us many different areas of Sintra. We then were able to decide which area of Sintra we wanted to see more in depth. Catalina provided historical background of the areas visited which we really liked. The walking tour requires a lot of walking and sometimes up steep inclines. Wear good walking shoes. We really enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it.

She is very professional, good entertainer and humourous, took us round and explain in details of all the historical structures, and the history of portugal.

João was an excellent guide. He had a great knowledge of Sintra and made the information so easy to take in. He also brought us to a stunning view point that we never would have found without the tour. It really made us appreciate the layers of history within the city.

Excellent free tour with a lovely lady, interesting and insightful information shared, top tips and hints to build on sightseeing. At times was a little hard to hear as SIntra was busy and the group didn’t bunch together as well as other tours I have been on. However this tour was an excellent introduction to SIntra for those who only have a day or so spare to visit this wonderful place.

Raphael does an amazing tour. I had to apologize since we booked for four: one didn't make it to the station to travel to Sintra and one had to bail once we arrived in Sintra but my husband & I thoroughly enjoyed this tour.

We had a wonderful free walking tour of Sintra with fantastic guide Joāo. He was fun, funny, insightful and knowledgeable. Adapted to the group and added some personal knowledge of a very cool Moorish fountain. Would highly recommend you try to get Joao for your visit to Sintra, or when he does some of his other tours in Lisboa. A real local gem of a tour guide. 5*
