Located less than 7 kilometers from Huaraz, the small town of Wilcacocha is an attractive destination for those who like to see the Cordillera Blanca in its maximum splendor without moving very far from the city. At 3725 meters above sea level, its lagoon is one of the most beautiful in the entire Cordillera Negra. The town is dedicated to agriculture and livestock, along the way you can see potato crops, beans, wheat, goose among others, with trails and roads that connect small towns before reaching Wilcacocha. The best way to enjoy it is on foot, with trails that allow you to enjoy in its maximum splendor the hills and snowy surroundings. From the Santa Cruz bridge in Chiwipampa (starting point of the trek), passing through Centro Poblado de Santa Cruz, continue heading west for a great climb an hour more until you reach the Wilcacocha Lagoon, for those who believe that leaving Ride is expensive, they are wrong with just S /. 1 round trip sun and another back sun, you can already know the Wilcacocha Lagoon, also the guided is totally free.
