The Seven-Square Tour: broad perceptions on history
Tour description
The Piazzas have always played a symbolic role in the cities as an important place in which artistic principles and different ideologies have been expressed through time.
The goal of this tour is to better understand how the city of Rome has been reconstructed after the Fall of the Roman Empire to become the city we know today, focusing on the artistic and spiritual principles developed during the Renassance and the Baroque periods (1400's-1700's).
By prioritizing the context rather than loose data, the tour intends to provide autonomy to the participants so they can better interprete the historical stratification of the city through its piazzas, monuments and fountains.
Be ready to sharpen your senses and add new perspectives to your trip.
This tour invites you for a walk along 7 Roman Piazzas (Squares) and their surrounding monuments:
1. Piazza della Repubblica (Deocletian's Baths)
2. Piazza di San Bernardo (Fountain of Moses)
3. The Four-Fountain crossing
4. Piazza del Quirinale (Presidential Palace)
5. Piazza di Trevi (Trevi Fountain)
6. Piazza di Pietra (Hadrian's Temple)
7. Piazza di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola (St. Ignatious Church)
