My name is Alonso, I come from a place where there are nature, volcanoes and lots of coffee but on a visit to La Fortuna I was so impressed by the Arenal Volcano, so I decided to make it my second home more than 15 years ago. I am very lucky to know about nature, the history of La Fortuna and to be able to live in this place, which is visited by people from all over the world. I like to help tourists and share my knowledge of Costa Rica.
We will take you back to 1940 until 2010 in a free walking tour for 2 hours around the actual town of La Fortuna, from the moment that the area of La Fortuna was discovered by a Nicaraguan person.
Also, you will learn about the families that came and settle up in La Fortuna, you will see old pictures of the main areas of town, visit the catholic church, the local sport center, the bull ring, some old houses, buildings, La Fortuna school, central park and the Chocomuseo.
The walking tour is 2 km (1.3 miles) around La Fortuna town. Alonso will be with you all the time explaining every detail of this little town from 1940 until now. You will get information about the main places in town such as the church, central park, the sport center, the public school, some of the most famous restaurants, sodas, buildings and how this little town grows at the shadow of the Arenal Volcano.
The tour will end in the Choco Museum with a little tour about the history of cacao and chocolate tasting.
