I am Jorge Giordano, an Italian-Argentine retired horse veterinarian. I always had a lot of interest in history and especially in medieval and ancient history. I have dedicated and spent a lot of time reading. I have studied several subjects on medieval history at the faculty of history and geography of the University of Barcelona. Among them are that of Universal Medieval History, History of Byzantium and Islam and Medieval History of Catalonia. With the passage of time and based on reading and tours of Barcelona in particular and also with the faculty, for their cultural heritage, it occurred to me that I could do them accompanying people and in fact I did several times with friends. They were very satisfied with what was seen and explained, which I asked them by detaching themselves from friendship and giving impartial opinions. I really like interacting with people and cultural exchange with people from other places.
The tour would be through the Barrio Antiguo (El Call), starting with the Plaza Nova, exterior view of the Roman cathedral, wall and aqueduct. The house of the Arcediano, carrer del Bisbe (view of the Pont del Bisbe). Back of the Cathedral and adjoining buildings. Temple of Augustus, Plaza del Rey, Palau Reial.
The tower of the Mirador del Rey Martí and the National Archive of Catalonia.
Next to Roman ruins, underground.
Returning by Carre del Bisbe, to Plaza de Sant Jaume, observing the Palace of La Generalitat de Catalunya. The Barcelona City Hall building. After this a brief tour of the approximate location of the ancient Roman wall.
Touring the Call, in addition to seeing the ancient streets that belonged to the Jewish quarter, you can also see the ancient synagogue of the Roman era (1st century).
Then Santa Maria del Pi, church and adjacent Plaza (Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol, former cemetery adjacent to the temple).
You can also visit the Rambla area with the Plaza Real, which was the old Capuchin convent of Santa Madrona, until 1835.
It is interesting to visit the Monastery of Sant Pau del Camp. In the Raval neighborhood
En la esquina de la Carrer del Bisbe y Santa Lluvia.
