Tour description
Manchester is perhaps the most important city in England after London. Due to the arrival of the industrial revolution, 200 years ago, the city became, together with Birmingham, one of the largest urban concentrations in the world.
The cotton textile industry was the engine of the city also helped by the proximity of the port of Liverpool. From that past there are still traces in the city, like red brick industrial buildings ... the cotton industry brought wealth but in exchange for terrible working conditions ...
