Free Tour of Florence: its Beginning, the Renaissance, the Art

Florence is one of the most influential cities of central Italy. Celebrated as the birthplace of Renaissance , continues to thrive as a banking power , as well as a city of great historical and artistic significance. It was founded in 59 b.C. by Julius Caesar who named the settlement Florentia and designated it a haven for retired military veterans. This tour is intended to retrace the step of the EVOLUTION of the town planning from the Roman ages to the Renaissance period. We will stop at some Topographic locations called “CANTO”. Their nomenclature allows us to reconstruct news, curiosities and the close relationship with the components that characterize the Florentine environment. We will pass through the less touristy and more authentic roads that show different aspects from those of the usual routes. We will focus our interest on the particular historical evolution of Florence and the personalities of the MEDICI family who played a fundamental role in it. We will see the Medici palace and, if possible on that day, some famous frescoes inside. - Possible entrance ticket: free for children 18-25 years old Adults Euro 7 In this Tour you will see the most important monuments in the city: - Republica Square - s Trinita - Old Bridge - Piglet lodge - Piazza and Palazzo Signoria - Orsanmichele - Ancient towers and medieval streets - Palazzo del Podestà - Piazza Duomo - Palazzo Medici At the end of the Tour, for those interested, I indicate how to reach “Oltrarno” and the area of “Santo Spirito”where you can find workshops of today ‘s artists and locals where to enjoy their coffee and eat a sandwich.
