Hello everyone! I am Selene and I am an official Canary Islands tourist guide. Life took me by chance to this profession and now I cannot imagine without it. I am passionate about history and languages. With me you will get to know the Vegueta neighborhood from a local and authentic point of view, since I have lived here all my life. In addition, we will take a trip back in time from the 15th century to the present day, where we will not only tell the history of the city, but also anecdotes and curiosities. I will also recommend local places to shop, drink coffee or eat. During this tour I will not only be your guide, but also your friend, so you can take the opportunity to ask me anything you need for your vacation on the island.
Can you imagine a beach more than 3km long, golden sand and calm tides? Well, imagine no more and come and meet me at Las Canteras beach, full of marine life and full of leisure! Located to the northwest of the capital of Gran Canaria, Las Canteras is an exceptional destination to spend some magnificent days on the beach. But not only for that, because both the beach and its surroundings have a lot of history. We will start our tour in the Santa Catalina park (right in the tourism house), 10 minutes from the beach, and very close to Puerto de la Luz (the most important in the Canary Islands). I will tell you the history and evolution of the area, and we will go forward in time from the beginning of Las Canteras as an area of humble port workers, to become a great tourist destination, which does not leave the locals in the shade at all . During the tour I will recommend local places to eat or have a drink, I will tell you funny anecdotes about the life of the locals and the culture shock caused by the fusion of tourists and the local population. In addition, we will talk about the origin of the beach and its great natural reef. We will also see the first fortress of the city, from the 15th century: the Castle of Light. We will finish our walk at the Mercado del Puerto, where you can regain strength with a local tapas and something cool. Do not hesitate and come to know this great jewel of the city with me, we will have a great time!
At the Tourism House, in the Plaza de Santa Catalina. Look in Maps, because on this map it does not allow me to mark the exact point. I will wear a light blue shirt, as in the photo. In El Muelle shopping center they have free parking (3 hours).
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
