Free Tour - Comillas: modernist, nautical, and cinematic!
Tour description
Throughout this one hour and 20 minute tour we will walk through the picturesque streets of Comillas, the Villa de los Arzobispos while enjoying its most emblematic monuments such as La Fuente Tres Caños, the Casa Ocejo, the Sobrellano Palace, the Capricho de Gaudí and the Pontifical University .
We'll visit these magnificent places while learning about their history. We'll see the house where King Afonso XII stayed . Did you know that Comillas was the capital of Spain for a day?
I'll show you a sculpture that had to be relocated because it didn't fit where it was meant to be. Let's see who's the first on the tour to discover it!
We'll look at all the details of Gaudí's Capricho , including its relationship with music and why there are so many sunflowers on the façade.
We'll find two figures hidden in the University entrance gate , and I'll explain why they're there.
We'll continue on to the cemetery, where we have an amazing story to tell you, but first, we'll briefly touch on Comillas' history with cinema.
Twenty-four films have been shot in Comillas, and we'll visit some of the locations where they were filmed. I'll also tell you that I participated in the filming of four of them. Comillas is so beautiful that film directors have been shooting their films in our town since 1935.
